In the Space You Filled

I watched the room from where I sat,
Everyone close, just chatting like that.
At first, you were simply one of the crowd,
But soon, your presence stood out loud.

I found myself admiring your way—
So “game on” to whatever came each day.
Your energy caught my attention,
Even your faith posted on your station.

Your random remarks on a certain agenda
Make me laugh when you're in the area.
Even the times you complimented me out of nowhere
Made me feel seen—like I mattered there.

I was glad to help when I knew you’d need,
Even in silence, I chose to heed.
You never asked, yet I could tell,
And lent a hand just to wish you well.

The songs of Earl Agustin as you pass through,
The ones you sing—I like them too, just like you do.
And when your voice is silent in the hallway,
It makes me wonder—are you okay?

Though your careless words sometimes irritate me,
They never made my time less lovely.
Just one thing I hope you won’t shelf—
Remember not to overwork yourself.

“It’s time to leave again,” time stated,
Glad that I got to write what happened.
A faint smile before I face ahead,
With silent thoughts that were left unsaid.
